VidyoRoom HD-2: Video Collaboration – Great Things Come in Small Packages

The HD-2 Vidyo Room

The Vidyo team has been hard at work to bring you our latest endpoint, the VidyoRoom™ HD-2. Hot on the heels of our recent release of the VidyoRoom HD-3, we are now introducing a new VidyoRoom system that delivers exceptional Ultra HD 4k video quality in a small compact form factor. With high quality video and small size, the VidyoRoom HD-2 is ideal for a variety of environments from huddle spaces up to board rooms.

Vidyo has a strong focus to bring the highest quality collaboration experience possible and the VidyoRoom HD-2 is no exception. It provides the ability to support a single display at Ultra HD 4K resolution for high quality content collaboration and multiparty video conferencing. Alternatively, you can drive two displays at 1080p resolution for a multiscreen viewing experience.

The VidyoRoom HD-2’s small size makes it ideal for huddle spaces where room can be at a premium. At a little over an inch thick, it can be discretely mounted in an out of the way location. Take a look at this unboxing video to see how compact the VidyoRoom HD-2 unit is.

The VidyoRoom HD-2 joins the VidyoRoom HD-3 and VidyoRoom SE products providing complete coverage for your group collaboration needs. Whether you are looking for small huddle space or a large integrated boardroom, users will be able to find a VidyoRoom system that fits their use case.

Enjoy an Improved Video Conferencing Experience with VidyoGateway 3.5.0

vgate600

We recently announced the release of VidyoGateway™ 3.5.0. VidyoGateway delivers robust interoperability between Vidyo and third party voice and video conferencing solutions. We’ve listened to our customers and made some nice enhancements to the product to provide end users and administrators with an even better collaboration experience on our platform.

Firewalls and NAT/PAT devices often cause call connectivity problems. In fact, they are the number one reason for call connectivity problems in the Internet based communications world. We’ve enhanced NAT traversals of the VidyoGateway by adding support for RFCs 7362, 3581 and 5626. This should make far-end and near-end NAT traversals easier and reduce the rate of call failures for third-party video conferencing endpoints connecting from behind corporate NAT / firewalls.

We’ve also added support for call control via DTMF (Dual Tone – Multi Frequency) tones. Audio-only participants dialing into a VidyoConference now have more control over their call experience. By using their phone’s touchtone keypads, users can now mute or un-mute their line, or turn on and off participant entry & exit tones. This is a relatively small feature addition to the VidyoGateway, but can have an extremely positive impact on the call experience. If you are attending a meeting where other participants are joining and or leaving frequently, you can disable these tones and focus on the presentation. Additionally, administrators can customize the key sequences for these commands.

Last but not the least, we’ve added support for the Opus audio codec. Opus is a popular, low-latency, high-fidelity variable bitrate codec which has better audio quality than other codecs at any given bitrate. Third-party video conferencing devices that support Opus can now join a conference on Vidyo and enjoy a higher quality audio experience.

We value our customer feedback and will continue to listen to ways in which we can improve Vidyo’s video collaboration experience. Keep the feedback coming!

Want to learn more about Vidyo interoperability? Check out the VidyoGateway datasheet or contact your Vidyo representative. The VidyoGateway v.3.5.0 update is available for free to customers under an active support contract.

Vidyo Unveils Telehealth Clinical Design Services at ATA to Accelerate Implementation Success

Telehealth Consulting

Telehealth has been a focus for Vidyo because our care providing customers and partners have made it clear that more efficient use of clinical expertise across their systems is the key to delivering better patient outcomes and economic success in accountable care models. From providing access to a remote specialist, to assessing patients in remote areas to determine if emergency evacuation is needed and even for providing remote monitoring and interventions for chronic conditions such as diabetes, telehealth has proved its place.

Many healthcare providers are looking to drive clinical efficiencies through telehealth programs across the care continuum but often run into challenges. Vidyo’s experience with our more than 120 healthcare system partners representing over 1,800 hospitals in the US has allowed us to recognize that the primary challenge isn’t the technology, but the ability for organization’s to successfully integrate these programs into their existing clinical operations and workflows. Our clinical design service, called VirtualDesign, ensures success for healthcare organizations looking to implement effective and sustainable telehealth programs.

Vidyo has hired Wendy Deibert as vice president of clinical services to help drive the future vision and execution of the new service offerings. Deibert is a registered nurse and one of the original architects and leaders of the Mercy Virtual telehealth program.

If you’ll be attending ATA Fall Forum and are interested in learning more about VirtualDesign services, come visit us at booth #106. Vidyo will also be demonstrating the following telehealth solutions:

Vidyo Transfer Agent – An embedded video application for patient engagement from a website or portal, customized to the healthcare systems’ needs and specification through Vidyo professional services, that enables white glove triage services for patients connecting face-to-face with a live representative. Through the interaction, the representative is able to collect necessary information and assist the patient by connecting him or her in real-time to the appropriate administrator or clinician for help via a warm transfer.

Specialist Consults – Using desktop computers or mobile devices over wireless Internet, remote specialists can join reliable high quality video consultations with patient and care giver in an ambulatory care setting. The remote specialist is able to share and annotate content, control his or her point of view by remotely controlling the patient’s side camera and view the output of electronic otoscopes and exam cameras during physical examination.

Already powering the #1 healthcare app on the App store and having been named a recipient of Frost & Sullivan’s 2016 North American Video Telehealth Enabling Technology Leadership Award, Vidyo VirtualDesign will ensure successful telehealth program implementations for healthier patients and care provider bottom lines.

Vidyo Supports WebRTC Video Conferencing

webrtc600

The videoconferencing industry and the road toward WebRTC share some common ground. When using WebRTC beyond two-way, peer-to-peer calls, or in networks with significant quality problems, system architects are encountering the same design issues that the videoconferencing industry has been dealing with for a long time. It is not accidental then that WebRTC solutions designed for multi-point video gravitate towards those offered in videoconferencing, or that videoconferencing companies are adapting their systems to become WebRTC solutions.

In fact, today Vidyo announced availability of WebRTC-enabled products that enable a plug-in free way to join Vidyo meetings from web browsers. Though we’re not betting our business on WebRTC, we see it as yet another choice Vidyo can offer customers and we think it can be valuable to the market place.

Want to know more about WebRTC and why you should care? Vidyo’s resident WebRTC expert (and Co-Founder and Chief Scientist) Alex Eleftheridias addresses scalability (VP8 and VP9), architecture, endpoint quality and platform provider selection in his latest blog post for BlogGeek.me.

Here’s an excerpt: “One may ask, “why care about VP9, I will just use whatever stock codec my browser has and be done with it.”  The answer is that you do want to care, when quality matters.  Depending on the codec used, and the type of multi-point server architecture deployed, the end user will get a vastly different quality of experience.”

Vidyo in the Cloud!

vidyocloud600

More and more of our collaboration today is across teams that span geographical and organizational boundaries. A lot of this collaboration is still conducted over email or various chat applications. However, these tools lack the personal touch and generally fail to convey the emotional content which is so very important in developing relationships and quickly converging towards effective decisions and business outcomes. High quality video conferencing-based collaboration provides a significant opportunity to bring the human touch back to team collaboration. To date organizations had to either rely on very expensive room based dedicated systems for high end collaboration or had to rely on cloud based lower quality services. The cloud based collaboration services also fail to optimize bandwidth and connectivity between enterprise campus sites and the internet. Vidyo is changing this, delivering high end collaboration via a cloud-based service.

Bandwidth-Button300Vidyo is now bringing up to 4K resolution video collaboration service to the cloud with support for hybrid architecture which optimizes on-campus and campus to cloud connectivity. Enterprise customers can now use Vidyo’s cloud based service to replace standalone video conferencing hardware, web conferencing solutions and audio conferencing services with a single high quality subscription solution.

Current enterprises end up spending up to $100+/employee/month in licensing, infrastructure and IT support headcount for standalone solutions from multiple vendors to support their real time collaboration needs. With Hosted VidyoConferencing, enterprises have now the ability to get better service at a fraction of today’s spend and benefit from a global managed service.

VidyoAPI-2

Today Vidyo also announced a developer-focused Platform as a Service (PaaS) offering. With Vidyo PaaS we’ve simplified our APIs to provide a platform for developers to build their own custom applications without sacrificing quality, scalability or security. Stay tuned for more on Vidyo PaaS, coming this summer.

weebutt150All Vidyo offerings – on-prem, Hosted VidyoConferening and Vidyo PaaS include native support for WebRTC and are VP8 and VP9 ready.

We are excited to launch Hosted VIdyoConferencing service for our customers, available now. It enables us to deliver the high quality visual collaboration experience and reliability that Vidyo is known for combined with the ease that cloud services deliver.

Optimizing Enterprise Collaboration

infrastructure-innovation

Vidyo was founded with the idea that high quality, large scale video communication should be flexible, resilient and affordable. From day one, we have sought to be innovators, disrupting the traditional model of video conferencing and establishing, what has now become the industry standard software-based video conferencing model. We’ve registered more than 100 patents worldwide and our team is constantly pushing to bring our customers the best experience possible.

Today Vidyo announced new key innovations to the VidyoWorksTM infrastructure and platform. These unmatched innovations are designed to better help IT organizations meet the demands of the ever-changing IT landscape. From the rise of remote workers, to heightened security demands to tightening of budgets, IT organizations are looking for technology that will not only meet their immediate needs but prove to be a valuable long-term investment.

Vidyo’s infrastructure innovations improve upon our market-leading platform. Not only do these innovations provide improved manageability, interoperability and security, these innovations make the software-based VidyoWorks platform an even higher performance platform, enabling IT organizations to extend the value of their investment. Key innovations include:

  • 50% reduction of resource requirements without sacrificing performance
  • Improved security to meet the high demands of financial services, government, healthcare
  • Unmatched bandwidth optimization and video quality via the cascading architecture
  • Eliminates the need for a Session Border Controller (SBC) or SIP-aware firewall
  • Easy system management with new administrative UIs
  • WebRTC support, including support for VP9 and simplified interoperability

Arguably, the most valuable information we obtained during this process is the feedback we received from our customers. Their partnerships and input helped Vidyo take a very strong product and platform to the next level, helping us to continuously innovate, making it even better suited to support the enterprise.
